Rostelecom says creates Russia’s first open source repository
MOSCOW, Jun 23 (PRIME) -- Russian state-controlled telecom company Rostelecom has opened the country’s first trusted repository of packages and libraries of the open source code for their check for vulnerabilities, the company said on Friday in a statement.
The number of cyberattacks against state and corporate web resources has been rising recently, mainly due to vulnerabilities in corporate applications and services of own development and the use of open source software, whose exploitation becomes less safer, Rostelecom said.
“Open source is often peppered with malicious capacities that can not only undermine functioning of software, but also provoke leaks of personal data, disrupt work of websites and so forth. RTK-Feniks is created to reduce these cyber risks,” the company said.
